Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) has flagged off the rehabilitation works of bad sections of the Jos – Akwanga-Abuja Road in Plateau State.

The North Central Zonal Coordinator of the agency, Daniel Ijie, stated this while monitoring the ongoing rehabilitation works in Riyom LGA.

According to him, the Zone comprises Plateau, Benue, Taraba and Nasarawa states.

He argued that the Jos—Akwanga Road is among the critical federal roads captured for maintenance in its 2024 budget because of its bad condition, a move aimed at alleviating motorists’ sufferings.

“We are here to fulfil part of the agency’s mandate, which is the maintenance of all federal roads.

“This road, as you know, has been in terrible condition, and this is why we are here to fix particularly critical spots that require urgent attention.

Earlier in his opening remarks, FERMA’s Engineer in charge of Plateau State, Ayoola Bolaji, commended the federal government for approving funds for the maintenance work.

He urged the Federal government to commit more resources toward rehabilitating all arterial roads in the country.
