The federal government has approved a whopping N78.2 billion contract for water projects to two reputable companies, JIDADU Ventures and Ceylon Construction Services Limited, to enhance water supply infrastructure in Jigawa and Benue states respectively.
JIDADU Ventures Limited, owned by Gombe State entrepreneur Yaya Barambu, secured a N59.4 billion contract for the Greater Dutse Water Supply Project in Jigawa State.
Meanwhile, Ceylon Construction Services Limited was awarded an N18.9 billion contract for the rehabilitation of the Buruku/Gboko Water Supply Project in Benue State.
Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Joseph Utsev, announced these approvals during the Federal Executive Council’s latest meeting.
According to the minister, the projects aim to alleviate water scarcity issues and improve the overall well-being of residents in these states.
In light of recent dam collapses and devastating flooding, the minister assured that a committee is assessing the condition of all dams nationwide to prevent future disasters and ensure the safety of Nigeria’s water infrastructure.
