FG, NITDA, Kebbi Govt Holds Workshop On NDE e-Governance Bill 2024

The federal government through the federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation And Digital Economy, National Information And Technology Development Agency (NITDA), National Assembly in Collaboration with the Kebbi State Ministry of Digital Economy has held a One- Day stakeholders engagement meeting and workshop on the Draft of National Digital Economy and E-Governance Bill 2024 aimed at revolutionising government operations, public service delivery and business processes across the country.

The workshop held in Birnin Kebbi has witnessed the attendance of all insundry in the digital economy sector from the selected MDAs in the state.

Speaking during the opening of the workshop, Commissioner of digital economy, Muhammad Ibrahim Muhammad said the stakeholders workshop is a high- level meeting in fostering on the draft of the upcoming national economy and e- governance bill 2024 which will signify a pivotal moment in the collective journey toward leveraging technology for sustainable growth and inclusive governance.

He added that the emergence of the digital economy today is not just a trend but, profound transformation of global economic and governance systems.

According to the Commissioner, in today’s interconnected world, digital technologies are reshaping how we work, communicate and its imperative and governance which has opened new frontiers of opportunities and it is imperative that Nigeria, especially Kebbi State positions itself strategically to harness these benefits.

Muhammad further disclosed that Kebbi State has reached far in integration of agricultural products into broader markets through e-commerce.

He told the participants that Kebbi State governor, Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu is committed to aligning with this national vision in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

” Kebbi State Ministry of Digital Economy has taken up a bold steps to digitize processes through the Kebbi State website, Kebbi Investment Promotion website, payment portals, eprocurement systems among others. ” Muhammad said.

Kebbi State has also carried out several trainings and workshops such as STEM education training for young men and women in digital skills ( including basic literacy software development, graphics design and data science) from MDAs staff on managing portals.” he added.

The Commissioner called on the participants to suggest on how best to tackle the challenges of inadequate infrastructure and digital literacy gaps through fostering dialogue and partnerships.

In his paper presentation, a Consultant with the federal Ministry of Communication and digital economy, Mr Jeffrey Nwalima said at the end of the meeting challenges facing e governance systems among MDAs in Kebbi State and other MDAs in the federation be solved and addressed which will signifies a vital role in passing e- governance ‘s bill 2024.

He noted that the bill aims is facilities digital transformation in public institutions, making government processes more efficient and fostering e- governance.
