Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on Wednesday joined thousands of Muslim faithful at the Yola Eid Ground in Yola South Local Government Area to observe the two raka’at Eid-el-Kabir prayers, urging Muslims to embrace forgiveness, love, and compassion during the festive season.
Speaking shortly after the prayers, Governor Fintiri described Eid-el-Kabir as a festival that symbolizes sacrifice, obedience, and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah.
He called on Muslims to reflect on the lessons of the season by promoting peaceful coexistence, strengthening unity, and extending support to the less privileged members of society.
The governor stressed the importance of tolerance and mutual understanding among citizens, noting that sustainable national development could only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and harmony.
He also urged residents of the state to continue praying for lasting peace, improved security, and economic prosperity in Adamawa State and Nigeria, assuring that his administration remained committed to improving the welfare of the people.
Among dignitaries present at the Eid prayer were the Lamido of Adamawa, represented by the Galadima Adamawa, Alhaji Mustapha Amin; top government officials; traditional rulers; political leaders; security chiefs; and other prominent personalities from across the state.
Also in attendance was the Adamawa State APC governorship candidate, Ahmed Tijjani Galadima.
Shortly after the Eid prayer, Governor Fintiri paid the traditional Sallah homage to the Lamido Adamawa, where he presented kolanuts to the royal father in line with the age-long Sallah tradition.
In his sermon, the Chief Imam of the Modibbo Adama Central Mosque, Yola, reminded Muslims of the significance of Eid-el-Kabir, drawing lessons from Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command.
