Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has awarded N1 billion for rebuilding of Wuro Ngayadi bridge which was destroyed by insurgents, and some key projects in some parts of the state.
The sum of N893 million was approved for the Wuro Ngayadi bridge linking Maiduguri-Mubi, roads and rehabilitation and delisting of three stormwater drainages in the Yola North local government area at the cost of over N161 million.
The state commissioner for information and strategy, Mrs Neido Geoffrey, said the projects would ease the hardships of the community and motorists plying the roads. The temporary bridge constructed by the government was washed away by flood.
The commissioner said the drainages include Ganye Street passing through Rumde Jimeta Bypass which measures at 1.87 km.
Others, she said, are Bishop Street passing through Luggere, covering 1.9km and CBN Market to Zaranda Street measuring 2.6kms.
According to the Commissioner, the 2 contracts were awarded to Triacta Nigeria Limited and G and G Construction Nigeria Limited respectively.
Commissioner for budget planning, Mr. Emmanuel Piridimso spoke on the 2022 budget transparency survey report where Adamawa was ranked 3rd in Nigeria and 1st in the northeast.
He said the council was briefed on the matter and he noted the feat was due to the giant stride recorded by Governor Umaru Fintiri to ensure transparency in the budget process.
The commissioner for works and energy, Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar on behalf of the council congratulated Adamawa Sports Contingents for emerging 7th position in the just concluded sports festival that was held in Delta State.
