Adamawa State governor, Umaru Fintiri, has reaffirmed his administration’s renewed commitment to livestock development in the state.
The governor stated this when he hosted the minister of Livestock Development, Muhktar Idi Maiha, who was on an official visit to the state.
The minister was on a thank-you and routine consultation visit with the livestock community of Adamawa ahead of the implementation of the national ranching policy.
Governor Fintiri, represented by the secretary to the state government, Barrister Auwal Tukur, expressed the resolve to support the federal government’s policy on the livestock value chain.
He said the livestock sub-sector is a resource that needs to be harnessed to drive economic and overall development.
Earlier, the minister explained that his visit afforded him the opportunity to appreciate the state government for its support and successful hosting of the national livestock summit.
It is also serves as an opportunity for routine consultation with stakeholders and to evaluate the status of grazing reserves in Adamawa ahead of the implementation of the national ranching policy.
The minister described Adamawa as a state with a largest grazing reserves, as well as enormous livestock resources that need to be harnessed.
