In the Monday opening match of the scheduled weeklong event, Yola North LGA emerged victorious after it faced off against Guyuk LGA.

The Chief of Staff, Government House, Dr. Edgar Amos who represented Governor Fintiri at the opening ceremony, urged all 21 participating local government teams to compete fairly.

He said the government is committed to youth empowerment, particularly in sports and entrepreneurship development.

The opening ceremony was attended by members of the state executive council, local government chairmen, and football enthusiasts from across the state.

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Wali Yakubu, and the ALGON Chairman, Suleiman Gangkuba, commended the revival of the Governor’s Cup after it was abandoned by previous administrations.
