Eyewitness accounts indicated that the fire started around 4a.m. on Wednesday, and was believed to have been triggered from a spark on an electric pole when the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) restored power supply to the area.

The fire incident was said to have ravaged several factories engaged in nylon and plastic production in the hub.

One of the witnesses, Ibrahim Aliyu said that the fire burnt down production machines, raw materials, and finished goods in the market.

Meanwhile the newly deployed state Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Bakori, who visited the scene sympathised with the victims and ordered for discreet investigation into the cause of the fire incident.
