A midnight fire that razed a residential building in Offa, Offa local government area of Kwara State on Saturday destroyed property worth N6.5million.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the incident that occurred at about 1:05am at Kowope compound, Olorunkuse area, Offa, affected a two- bedroom flat and four shops.
The spokesman of Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle who confirmed the incident yesterday, said the quick intervention of the firefighters saved property estimated to worth N13.3million.
“The Fire Brigade got to know about the fire incident through the call done by an anonymous person leaving very close to the scene of occurrence.
“Firemen were able to eliminate the ravaging fire on time, and out of the two- bedroom self-contained flat and four shops in the building only the store and kitchen were affected by fire,” Adekunle stated.
He said investigation showed that the fire outbreak was caused by a power surge.
