Firefighters and emergency teams have acted swiftly and prevented a major fire disaster at the popular Terminus Market (Jos Main Market) in Jos North local government area of Plateau State.
Our correspondent gathered that the inferno erupted around 10:00 p.m. on Saturday sending thick smoke into the night sky as flames engulfed sections of shops and goods in the market.
An eyewitness, Mr Silas Lawrenzo, told LEADERSHIP that the firefighters including a team from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) joined the Plateau State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Federal Fire Service and Plateau State Fire Service to douse the inferno.
He added that their collaborative and rapid response contained the fire effectively, limiting damage and averting what could have escalated into widespread destruction across the bustling commercial hub.
Lawrenzo also added that no lives were lost in the process.
