A firm, Teckplus Digital Solutions Ltd, has raised concerns over the handling of teachers’ data and the management of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) digital portal, following recent reports of persistent glitches and system failures.

In a public statement signed by its chief executive, Patrick Adeolu Adeneye, the firm said its attention had been drawn to media publications highlighting disruptions on the TRCN portal and alterations to digital assets it developed for the council.

The company stressed that, given the platform’s importance to Nigeria’s education system, it was necessary to clarify the issues.

Teckplus stated that its engagement with TRCN was anchored on a shared vision to digitalise Nigeria’s education sector in line with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Education.

According to the firm, it was contracted to develop a cloud-based teacher portal and a Mandatory Continuous Professional Development platform, both of which are described as central to TRCN’s operations.

“From the outset, our engagement with TRCN was driven by a shared vision with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Honourable Minister of Education to fully digitalise the Nigerian educational system.

“Teckplus was engaged to develop a cloud-based teacher portal and a Mandatory Continuous Professional Development (MCPD) portal. These platforms are the engine room of TRCN’s operations. Driven by patriotic zeal, we went far beyond set goals to develop a world-class teacher’s portal, the best of its kind.

“We voluntarily developed the TRCN corporate website at absolutely no cost to the Council as a goodwill gesture and a gift to the Nigerian teachers,” it added.

Teckplus further explained that although its contract covered four integrated portals, it delivered nine functional platforms, citing the Council’s financial constraints at the time.

According to the firm, the portal has since become critical to regulatory compliance, supporting policies by examination bodies such as WAEC and NECO that require teachers to be TRCN-certified before schools can register candidates.

However, Teckplus alleged that the portal remained fully operational until its services were unilaterally terminated on 31 December 2025.

It claimed that since January 2026, teachers have struggled to access essential services, attributing the disruption to the handover of the backend source code to TRCN management following its disengagement.
