Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has commissioned the newly completed Lodge Road in the Government Reserved Area of Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano state.
The First Lady also flagged off the construction of Sarkin Yaki Road in Sabon Gari, Fagge Local Government Area, during a ceremony attended by top government officials and political stakeholders, as Governor Abba Yusuf announced the road would be named after her.
Mrs Tinubu, who was received by Governor Yusuf and his wife alongside other dignitaries, described infrastructure development as a critical driver of economic growth and national development. She said quality road networks enhance mobility, improve security access and facilitate trade and social integration.
The First Lady stressed the need for sustained collaboration among federal, state and local governments to ensure that more communities benefit from impactful projects.
“Infrastructure remains central to unlocking economic opportunities and improving the quality of life of citizens,” she said.
In his remarks, Governor Yusuf described the First Lady’s visit as a significant moment for the state, noting that it underscored the importance of partnership in achieving development goals. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to policies and projects aimed at modernising Kano and boosting economic prosperity.
According to him, the newly commissioned road and the ongoing project would enhance transportation, stimulate business activities and support urban renewal efforts across the state.
The event attracted prominent dignitaries, including Deputy Senate President Barau I. Jibrin, members of the National Assembly, representatives of North-West governors, traditional rulers and leaders of the All Progressives Congress.
