FirstBank has announced its sponsorship of the Carnival Calabar & Festival 2025, introducing a 500-seater premium bleacher aimed at enhancing the viewing experience for attendees.

The bank said the private seating facility, the first of its kind at the carnival, is designed to offer improved comfort, safety and unobstructed views of the festivities.

Speaking on the sponsorship, acting group head, Marketing and Corporate Communications, FirstBank, Olayinka Ijabiyi, said the initiative aligns with the bank’s First@Arts programme, which supports Nigeria’s creative arts and cultural heritage.

He said the bank recognises the role of arts and cultural events in promoting unity, self-expression and cultural exchange, noting that FirstBank has continued to support such platforms for over 131 years.

Ijabiyi added that the introduction of the premium bleacher is intended to further elevate the carnival experience for participants and spectators.

Chairman of the Cross River State Carnival Calabar Commission, Gabe Onah, described FirstBank’s involvement as a boost to private-sector participation in culture and tourism, saying the partnership would enhance the quality and global appeal of the carnival.

The Carnival Calabar & Festival 2025 is being officially marketed by Okhma Global Limited, which is responsible for brand partnerships, promotional activities and ticket sales. The company has worked with the Cross River state government on the carnival for over a decade, contributing to its commercial growth and international visibility.
