The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs has demanded timely releases of budgetary funds to it and Nigeria’s Foreign Missions abroad for their smooth operations.
Consequently, as part of the continuous collaboration towards improving the financial condition of the Ministry, its Permanent Secretary, Ambassador Dunoma Umar Ahmed, on Monday, paid a visit to the Accountant-General of the Federation, Dr Shamseldeen Ogunjimi, in his office in Abuja.
A terse statement posted on the verified Facebook page of the Ministry and signed by its spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, said: “the meeting focused on improving the finances of the Ministry, particularly the timely release of budgeted funds to our diplomatic missions abroad and headquarters, and also engaged in wider deliberations in areas of mutual interest.”
LEADERSHIP reports that the development might not be unconnected to the recent nomination of Ambassadors and High Commissioners by President Bola Tinubu. The nominees, if confirmed by the Senate, will proceed to go and man various Nigerian Diplomatic Missions abroad, which have been vacant for over two years now.
