Foundation Distributes Foodstuff To Kebbi Households

The Tulsi Chanrai Foundation, an Indian group based in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, has distributed foodstuffs to about 1,000 households affected by leprosy in the state.

Governor Nasir Idris while flagging off the exercise at the Amanawa Leprosy Centre on the outskirts of Birnin Keboi metropolis commended the foundation for its significant contribution to improving the livelihood of households in Kebbi State.

He said, Tulsi Foundation began with eye treatment about 20 years ago and has truly delivered because people come from as far as Niger and Benin Republics to receive eye surgery and the foundation has since expanded its efforts to include other beneficial activities for people such as the provision of water and food supplies.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to addressing the needs of its people, saying that was why the state has prioritised the distribution of fertiliser free of charge to boost food production across the state.

Earlier, the chief executive officer of the foundation, Dr Shravan Kumar-Kasam, praised the governor for his efforts to transform the state.

The food items distributed include 50kg of rice, 10kg of maize, 10kg of millet, 10kg of sorghum and one gallon of cooking oil to each of the beneficiaries.
