The Rose Hope Foundation has unveiled a special school dedicated to the care of autistic children and the elderly persons in Ilorin, Kwara State.

The executive director of the Foundation, Rose Afolabi alongside other dignitaries unveiled the novel school during a media briefing at Cadeau Spectrum Academy, Agba Dam Road, Ilorin, Kwara State.

Afolabi said her  organisation is committed to transforming lives through care, education, and advocacy, with a particular focus on persons with special needs and the elderly.

She explained that the foundation, established in April 2024, was created to address gaps in support services across Nigeria, especially for the vulnerable and underserved populations.

She stated that the foundation’s activities are structured around four key areas: autism care and behaviour management, elderly care and assisted living, free vocational training—particularly for persons with special needs—and research and community engagement.

Afolabi emphasised that the Cadeau Spectrum Academy was established to provide a supportive and structured learning environment for children on the autism spectrum.

She described the school as a reflection of the foundation’s belief that every child is a gift with unique strengths and potential.

Afolabi stressed the need for increased awareness and inclusion, noting that autism remains widely misunderstood in many communities, often leading to stigma and limited opportunities for affected children.

She acknowledged the role of the Kwara State government  in creating an enabling environment for initiatives supporting children with special needs.
