A Nigerian foundation, Give Us Our Daily Bread has announced a new initiative to give back to widows across the country. The idea for the program came after a widow named Mrs. Onaderu joined the foundation’s existing programs and shared her story of struggle and hardship. Her experience moved the organization to consider how they could help other widows in similar circumstances.

To identify and reach out to the widows they intend to support, the foundation will use social media channels like Facebook, and select state coordinators from among their members. The coordinators will help the foundation reach those in off-grid areas without internet connectivity.

Kole Akintujoye, the founder of the foundation said “We will provide each widow with a sum of #50,000 in addition to their ‘daily bread’ if they are unable to. We know that amount will enable them to have some activities. They will also be welcomed and can visit the foundation to submit their request at any time if they ever need something to eat’

Speaking further, Akintujoye said for widows aged 60 and above, the foundation has a special program called Feed the Widow. Through this program, the foundation listens to the needs of these widows and responds accordingly. However, the foundation cannot admit widows under the age of 60 to the program.

To ensure the success of this initiative, the foundation is collaborating with donors in the US and Nigeria. By working together, the foundation hopes to make a significant impact in the lives of widows across Nigeria. The foundation is encouraging widows to reach out to them for support and urging the public to help spread the word about this important program.
