Ogun Sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi has led a five-kilometre cycling rally to promote safer mobility and healthy living.

The rally, which featured senior officers of the command, state coordinator of the special marshals of the corps, as well as members of the Ogun State chapter of the Cycling Federation of Nigeria, among other stakeholders in the nation’s transportation safety industry, was to commemorate the 8th United Nations’ World Bicycle Day.

Clad in white and grey Nike designed sporting kits with cycling helmets, Ogunjobi, and other cycling enthusiasts  passed major streets of Abeokuta from the FRSC’s command headquarters to the metropolis before returning to the their take-off point inside the Ibara Government Reserved Area (GRA) in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Speaking during the cycling event, the Sector Commander highlighted benefits of cycling, emphasizing its positive impact on personal health, physical fitness, environmental sustainability, and overall well-being of the people.

Ogunjobi noted that cycling contributes significantly to the reduction of carbon emissions while promoting healthier lifestyles among citizens.

He further disclosed that the World Bicycle Day provides an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of cycling and encourages individuals and communities to embrace the bicycle “as a simple, affordable, reliable, and environmentally friendly means of transportation”.
