Rivers State governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has confirmed that about ₦600 billion was available in the state’s treasury when he returned to office after the six-month state of emergency.

Speaking on Tuesday at the commissioning of the 14.2-kilometre Obodhi–Ozochi Road in Ahoada East and Ahoada West local government areas, Fubara stated that over ₦300 billion had been saved before the emergency period, with the balance intact upon his return.

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to fiscal discipline and accountability, dismissing claims of poor financial management.

Fubara stated that public funds were being deployed strictly for projects and programmes that benefit the Rivers people.

He explained that his government prioritised project execution over ceremonial launches, noting that several high-impact projects were ongoing across the state.

He stated that the Obodhi–Ozochi Road, initiated under the former Governor Nyesom Wike, was expanded by an additional 4.2 kilometres to meet community needs, bringing its total length to 14.2 kilometres.

The governor also approved requests for internal road construction within the communities, assuring residents of further infrastructure development.

Fubara pledged to make public detailed records of government expenditure within six months, insisting that his administration’s financial dealings could withstand scrutiny.

He called for sustained political mobilisation in support of President Bola Tinubu, saying strong backing for him would ease governance and future electoral efforts.

The governor further assured that development outcomes, not public spectacle, would remain the benchmark for his administration’s performance.
