Superstar actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has recently opened up about the award she received from the Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board.

Showing heartfelt appreciation, she thanked the organisers on her Instagram page, saying, the event was “truly special” as she was honoured and recognised for her “hard work and consistency” in the entertainment industry.

Behind the Scenes, which is her latest production, grossed about N2.7 billion, making it the highest-grossing Nollywood film this year. Akindele credits constructive criticism, continuous learning, and the exploration of new narrative styles for her success.

At the Awards ceremony, the Jennifer actress refused to share details on likely sequels and new releases, but assured fans they would not be disappointed and would love it. And she does not pressure herself.

In terms of her filmmaking, Akindele told the media during the ceremony, “I’m not competing. It’s not a competition. I just want to tell African stories, you know, our own Nigerian stories. I want us to feel accepted, loved.”

Continuing on her Instagram Page, she expressed sincere appreciation to Dr Shaibu Husseini, Executive Director of the Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board, and to Honourable Hannatu Musawa, Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy of Nigeria, for the incredible recognition.

“Thank you to all the guilds and associations who showed up in love and support – AGN, AMP, CEAN, DGN, RATTAWU,” she posted.

Adding that the award belongs to God, her amazing fans, her family, her hardworking team, and every colleague who has walked with her on this journey.

“I dedicate this to every creative who dares to dream big and stay consistent.
Thank you all for believing in me and in the vision. The journey continues and the best is yet to come.

Akindele, who has also achieved massive success with the movie A Tribe Called Judah, has regularly broken box-office records with her top four highest-grossing Nollywood films, earning more than N7.6 billion.
