The vice chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, has expressed the management’s willingness to establish a technology innovations park (TIP).
He said if established, the park would be placed where products generated from research activities would be showcased with a view to preserving them and stimulating the interest of younger generations towards research and innovation for national development.
He stated this in his remarks at the 2023 Researchers and Inventors Award Ceremony of the university organised by the Directorate of Research, Innovation and Development (DRID) at Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi Mini Hall, Minna yesterday.
Prof. Kuta who said teaching, research and community service are the three cardinal responsibilities which a university is known for, stressed the need for researchers to always venture on publications that the university would reckon with in the global arena.
He added that universities are rated by the quality of their research output.
Earlier in his speech, the head, directorate of research, innovation and development, Prof. Moses A. Olutoye, said the event was held to recognise researchers and patentees who made immense contributions to the growth of the university and the society at large.
He said the award was also to encourage good behaviour and inculcate competitive spirit among researchers.
