The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Ganduje on Thursday stormed the hallowed chambers of the House of Representatives to witness the defection of two New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) lawmakers from his state, Kano to the ruling party.

The lawmakers are Hon. Kabiru Usman and Hon. Abdullahi Sani, representing Rano/Bunkure/Kibiya and Karaye/Rogo federal constituencies of Kano state, respectively.

The defectors based their decision to dump their former party on what they described as “the internal crisis rocking the NNPP.”

Meanwhile, the member representing Oriade/Obokun federal constituency of Osun state, Hon.Oluwole Oke formally announced his defection to the APC.

LEADERSHIP reports that Oke, a six-term lawmaker, had last month resigned from his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but did not disclose his next political move.

The ranking member of the green chamber had said his decision to leave the PDP was after due consultation with his political associates, friends, and family members.

His resignation letter, which was sighted by LEADERSHIP was dated April 16, 2025 and addressed to the PDP Chairman in Ward 7, Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State and copied to the National and state chairmen.

“I wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my Membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect.

“This was concluded after consultation and engagement with my political associates, family and friends.”
It is my wish that you accept my resignation in good faith,” the letter reads.

Oke was earlier suspended by the Osun state PDP chapter due to his alleged loyalty to President Tinubu.
