Gani Adams Gives Scholarship To Varsity Students

The Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, has given four university students scholarships for their outstanding results and achievement in Yoruba language.

The scholarship worth N200,000 was given to the beneficiaries at the celebration of the 53rd birthday event of Adams in Lagos.

Speaking during the scholarship presentation, Adams disclosed that the reward was for the students’ outstanding education prowess and a measure to promote and preserve the Yoruba language among the youths in the tertiary institution.

“We would not let the Yoruba language go into extinction as our language is our culture, our pride, and our heritage,” said Adams.

The awardees are Khadijah Oladipupo from the Department of Linguistics and African Language, University of Ibadan for being the best student in Yoruba Language.

A 400-level student from Lagos State University, Ganiyat Akinsanya was also recognized for being a student with the highest CGPA in the Yoruba language from the Department of Linguistics, African Languages, and Communication Arts.

 

Adegbite Victoria from the Department of Linguistics and Nigerian Languages, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye gained a scholarship from the foundation.

Kwara State University student of Bachelor of Arts, department of English and Linguistics, Samad Abidemi Abdulhamid also bagged a scholarship.

 

The scholarship was part of the foundation’s course for the propagation of the Nigerian language, culture, and the commitment to the progress and development of the Yoruba race which has transcended across all the continents of the world.
