The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has announced the death of his mother, Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour.
Rhodes-Vivour disclosed the development in a statement shared on his official X account on Monday.
The statement, issued on behalf of the family by Olawale Rhodes-Vivour, described the late Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour (née Waboso) as a loving wife, devoted mother, and grandmother whose life was defined by love and service to her family.
“With sadness in our hearts and gratitude to God for a life well spent, we announce the call to glory of Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour (née Waboso). A loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother. The epitome of love,” the statement read.
The family expressed gratitude for her life and prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul.
“She will be sorely missed. May her beautiful soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement added
The family also noted that details of the funeral arrangements would be communicated in due course.
LEADERSHIP reports that Rhodes-Vivour was the Labour Party’s governorship candidate in the 2023 Lagos State election before defecting to the African Democratic Congress. In May 2026, he secured the ADC’s ticket to contest the 2027 Lagos governorship election.
