Gombe State governor, Inuwa Yahaya, has approved the appointment of the immediate past elected deputy chairmen of the eleven local government areas and all the 114 councillors as caretakers in their respective positions with immediate effect.

Secretary to the state government, Prof Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi announced the governor’s approval in a statement yesterday.

He said all the appointees are to report to the SSG’s office to collect their letters of appointment and resume duties immediately.

Recall that following the expiration of the tenure of the elected local government chairmen, deputy chairmen and councillors on December 21, 2022, Governor Yahaya had approved the dissolution of the 11 local government councils in the state. Also, in January this year, the governor approved the appointment of caretaker chairmen to oversee the affairs of the local government councils.

The governor Inuwa has also congratulated two illustrious sons of Gombe, Prof Aliyu Jauro and Dr Dasuki Ibrahim Arabi, over the renewal of their appointments by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Recall that Prof Aliyu Jauro, the director-general of the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) has recently been reappointed for a second and final term of four years while Dr Dasuki Arabi’s appointment as the director-general Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) was also renewed for the second and final tenure of five years.

Governor Yahaya in separate congratulatory messages, described the reappointment of the duo as well deserved considering their performance and the significant achievements recorded by their respective agencies under their stewardships.

He particularly praised Professor Jauro for his innovative approach and revolutionising the compliance, monitoring and enforcement of environmental regulations in NESREA, just as he hailed Dr Arabi for evolving global best practices and measures in ensuring efficient service delivery in the nation’s public sector.

He charged the two CEOs to continue to bring pride and honour to their home state and keep on with the remarkable trajectories and positive dispositions they were known for.
