The Gombe State Government has signed contract agreements for the execution of several critical infrastructure projects across the state.
The contract signing ceremony, held at the Ministry of Works, Housing and Transportation, was attended by top government officials and representatives of the contracting firms.
Speaking after signing the agreements on behalf of the state government, the Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transportation, Engr. Usman Maijama’a Kallamu, commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for his commitment to improving infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life of the people of Gombe State.
Engr. Kallamu congratulated the contractors and urged them to strictly adhere to approved standards and specifications in the execution of the projects.
He further assured the contractors of the state government’s full support, while warning that any deviation from agreed standards would not be tolerated.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mallam Danladi Adamu, explained that the projects are in line with the Governor’s vision of building a modern and sustainable Gombe State.
He noted that the projects were approved during the last State Executive Council (SEC) meeting of 2025, presided over by Governor Inuwa Yahaya.
The approved projects include the renovation and upgrade of the Gombe International Airport, Lawanti; construction of roads and other essential facilities at the Qatar Foundation site along the Southern By-pass, Gombe; and the construction of a Gombe Geographic Information Systems (GOGIS) Area Office in the Shehu Abubakar District.
Others are the construction of 6.3 kilometres of road within the newly developed Family Homes Estate behind the NNPC Depot, Tunfure, extending to connect inner suburbs of Northern Tunfure; construction of a road from ATC Gombe linking the GSU Express Road; and the reconstruction of Layin Speaker Road with its extension to Kasuwan Mata Road.
Also approved are the construction of additional roads within the Special Capital Development Zone, including the extension of the new express road from the Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH) through the new State Secretariat Complex under construction, passing through Shongo Housing Estate and linking up with the Western By-pass.
Speaking on behalf of the contractors, Engr. Ibrahim Abba Gana of expressed appreciation to the Gombe State Government for the opportunity to execute the projects.
He reaffirmed the contractors’ commitment to delivering quality work in line with approved specifications and within the agreed timelines.
