A petrol tanker exploded on Monday evening at Hamzat Ahmed Petroleum Station in Dass, the headquarters of Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State, destroying property worth millions of Naira.
The incident occurred at about 5:20 pm while the tanker was parked inside the filling station, waiting to discharge its petrol content.

Officials of the Bauchi State Fire Service swiftly responded to the scene and successfully controlled the fire before it escalated and engulfed the entire filling station.
Confirming the incident to LEADERSHIP, the Director of the Bauchi State Fire Service, Dauda Pali, said the fire had been brought under control.
Pali said the immediate cause of the fire outbreak was yet to be established, noting that an investigation had commenced to determine the cause of the explosion.
He added that the inferno destroyed two motorcycles, a tricycle, the canopy of the filling station, and pump nozzles.
