Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has set March 30, 2026 as a deadline for appointees of his administration who are eyeing elective positions in the forthcoming general elections to resign from their current positions.
He said he was determined to maintain the state’s development tempo and would not want anyone to delay any process that would yield results in that regard.
The governor said he cannot tender apologies to anyone, and nobody can frustrate him to abandon his covenant with the people of the state.
Alia said he was determined to bring more developments, stressing that he would rewrite the story of the state for good.
His chief press secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, said in a statement yesterday that the governor was addressing the Muslim faithful he hosted to an Iftar (breaking of fast) at the New Banquet Hall of Government House, Makurdi.
He said the those who want to resign should tender the resignation letters, to give him a clear direction to get other hands that would fill the positions for continuation.
Emphasising the need for people of genuine minds for development to join hands with him to sustain the tempo of development of the state, the governor stated, “I invite all people of good conscience to join hands with me so that we can make Benue a place that attracts everybody.”
