Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State has approved the release of additional N450 million as counterpart funding for Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).
This was contained in a statement signed by the secretary to the state government, Alhaji Babale Umar Yauri in Birnin Kebbi, yesterday.
According to him, the additional fund was to improve rural access and agricultural marketing project in the state and as well as strengthening the financial and institutional base for effective development, maintenance and management of the rural road networks.
Babale said it was the requirement of the World Bank for all states participating in the programme prior to the award of contracts to pay the counterpart fund.
He noted that the payment of the counterpart fund would enable the project to continue in all the 21 local government areas the state.
Babale also disclosed that Governor Abubakar Bagudu had earlier approved the appointment of Engr Bello Mohammed as the new state coordinator of RAAMP and seven projects involved in the projects.
