Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to an inclusive, multi-sectoral recovery plan aimed at rebuilding communities devastated by over a decade of Boko Haram insurgency.

The governor made this statement while interacting with journalists at the August 27 Stadium in Damaturu on Wednesday.

Governor Buni said Yobe’s recovery strategy must address all sectors simultaneously, given the scale of destruction suffered during the conflict.

He noted that areas once under the control of insurgents have now been reclaimed and transformed into peaceful communities, witnessing gradual but steady development.

“Yobe is one of the worst-hit states by the Boko Haram insurgency, and the recovery process has to be equally multi-sectoral,” the governor said.

He added, “That is why we are giving attention to all sectors of development.”

Governor Buni expressed satisfaction that visitors were able to witness firsthand the relative peace now enjoyed across the state, as well as ongoing projects aimed at restoring livelihoods and infrastructure.

He described the achievements so far as modest but meaningful, stressing that the focus remains on delivering value and rebuilding trust among the people.

“At a point in time, this stadium was under Boko Haram control,” he recalled.

“Today, you can see how peaceful it is.

We are upgrading and transforming these areas, restoring development to our people and ensuring value for money,” he said.

The governor commended the journalists for taking the time to tour the state and see the progress made, assuring them that his administration would continue to pursue policies that promote peace, inclusiveness, and sustainable development in post-insurgency Yobe.
