Gov Eno Lauds Acquisition Of Mobil By Seplat Energy, Pledges Support

Akwa Ibom State governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has applauded the take over of Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN) Unlimited, and assured that the state government under his watch, would support the Seplat Energy Group (SEG,), in its vision and strategy to “remain Nigeria’s leading independent energy provider.”

Speaking during a courtesy visit to the governor at the Government House, Uyo, by the board/management of Seplat Group, following its successful acquisition of MPN Unlimited, he said the government under his leadership, “is people-oriented and will support initiatives that will benefit the people of the state.”

He maintained that the state has an enabling environment and good accommodations of international standards, such as the Udom Emmanuel Towers, and called on the oil company to consider acquiring spaces there to enhance its operations.

The governor explained that “the state has an employment portal which contains details of unemployed youths, and urged Seplat executives to visit the site and harvest the needed man power whenever the need arises.”

While recollecting some of his experiences with ExxonMobil, he expressed optimism that, “given the calibre of men in the management of Seplat Energy led by Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, the company will soar.”

He appreciated the team for the visit, and promised the necessary support to engender success.

Responding, the board chairman of Seplat Energy Group, Senator Udoma, explained that the visit was to formally inform the governor that Seplat Energy Plc, has acquired the entire share capital of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPNU) from ExxonMobil Corporation, Delaware.

He noted that “Seplat Energy is aware that MPNU operations have significant activities in Akwa Ibom State, hence the visit to officially inform the governor of the development and to seek support and cooperation in ensuring a seamless transition from ExxonMobil to Seplat Energy Plc.”

The board chairman disclosed that “the SEPNU operations will be focused on ensuring safe operations, reopening shut-in wells, increasing production, embarking on an extensive drilling campaign, and unlocking the enormous gas reserves in these fields.”

He added that “the SEPNU will seek to build a strong and mutually-beneficial relationship with the state government and the operational communities, as well as other stakeholders.”
