Gov Fintiri Inspects Major Projects, Says No Contractor Is Owed By Adamawa Govt

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has declared that no contractor handling government projects in the state is owed by his administration, insisting that there is no justification for delays in the execution of projects.

The governor made the declaration while leading top government officials on an inspection tour of several ongoing projects, including the Adamawa State Ultra-Modern Stadium, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp, the Jimeta Ultra-Modern Shopping Complex, and the State Zoo, to assess the pace and quality of work.

Governor Fintiri said his administration remained resolute in its commitment to completing all ongoing capital projects before the expiration of its tenure, describing infrastructure development as a central pillar of his government’s development agenda.

According to him, the prompt payment of contractors reflects the administration’s determination to eliminate unnecessary delays and ensure the timely delivery of projects that meet the highest standards.

“No contractor executing government projects in Adamawa State is being owed. Therefore, there is no excuse for failing to complete projects according to schedule,” the governor said.

During the inspection, Governor Fintiri expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work at the various project sites but directed contractors to sustain the momentum and ensure that all projects are completed before the September deadline.

He warned that his administration would not tolerate avoidable delays, stressing that contractors must strictly comply with the terms of their contracts and deliver projects that conform to approved specifications.

Project engineers and contractors who conducted the governor round the facilities assured him that construction work was progressing steadily and that the projects would be delivered within the agreed timelines.

Speaking to journalists after the inspection, Governor Fintiri reiterated his determination to leave behind a legacy of modern infrastructure that would improve the welfare of citizens and stimulate socio-economic development across Adamawa State.

He explained that the ultra-modern stadium would boost sports development, encourage youth participation in sporting activities, and provide a platform for discovering and nurturing talented athletes.

The governor added that the permanent NYSC Orientation Camp would provide a more conducive environment for the orientation, training, and welfare of corps members deployed to Adamawa State.

Inspecting the Jimeta Ultra-Modern Shopping Complex, Governor Fintiri described the facility as one of the finest commercial complexes in Northern Nigeria, noting that it would revolutionise commerce in the state by providing a modern and business-friendly environment for traders and investors.

He said the shopping complex would also create employment opportunities for young people and further strengthen the state’s economy.

The governor also visited the ongoing reconstruction of the Adamawa State Zoo, expressing confidence that the facility would enhance tourism, recreation, and environmental conservation upon completion.

Governor Fintiri disclosed that with about ten months left in office, his administration would intensify efforts to complete and commission more people-oriented projects across the state.

He reaffirmed that his government would continue to execute and inaugurate quality projects until its final day in office, stressing that his objective is to leave behind a stable, modern, and efficient state with enduring infrastructure that would serve as a solid foundation for future administrations.

The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prudent management of public resources, transparency, accountability, and the delivery of projects that provide value for money and have lasting impact on the lives of the people.

Governor Fintiri was accompanied on the inspection tour by the Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta; the Chief of Staff, Dr. Edgar Amos Sunday; the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Auwal Tukur; and other senior government officials.

The inspection forms part of the governor’s routine monitoring of ongoing projects aimed at ensuring quality service delivery, strict adherence to contractual standards, and value for public funds across Adamawa State.
