Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has said he would retire from politics after completing his tenure, saying younger Nigerians should be given the opportunity to take over leadership.

Otti, who spoke on the importance of good governance, said people who experience effective leadership would resist any attempt to return them to poor governance.

“Once I finish this one, I will retire. Why do I say so? I want the young people to take over,” CHANNELS TV quoted him as saying in Umuahia.

“The most important thing you can give a people is good governance.”

The governor also said he had no intention of becoming a political godfather, declaring that he did not tolerate godfathers. “I don’t want to be a godfather. And I don’t tolerate godfathers,” he said.
