Katsina State is witnessing an era of unprecedented transformation, guided by the visionary leadership of Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda. His recently concluded Statewide Engagement Tour, which spanned all 34 Local Government Areas and culminated on Saturday 6th in Katsina LGA, has become a living testament to inclusive governance, grassroots empowerment, and sustainable development.
About two weeks, the Governor traversed urban centres, rural villages, and every corridor of the state, ensuring that citizens experience development not as a distant policy, but as a tangible improvement in their daily lives.
From the outset, Funtua zone set the tone for the tour. Here, Governor Radda witnessed how empowerment can transform livelihoods. Over 360 residents, men and women alike, were equipped with grinding machines, irrigation pumps, motorcycles, sewing machines, motor vehicles, and cash support, courtesy of Funtua LGA Chairman Hon. Abdu Goya.
These interventions went beyond boosting economic activity, they revitalized small businesses, enabled household self-reliance, and inspired hope for the future.
Walking among beneficiaries, the Governor listened to the challenges of farmers, traders, and artisans, emphasizing that equitable development requires consultation, responsiveness, and active collaboration with communities.
In Bakori, the story of progress intertwined with civic engagement. Governor Radda commissioned a new APC party office, donated by Abduljabbar Sirajo of the Guga Foundation, a facility designed to strengthen grassroots political structures and enhance citizen participation. Surrounded by party leaders, federal and state officials, and enthusiastic residents, the Governor reinforced that strong institutions are the backbone of governance and public trust.
As the tour unfolded across the state, Dandume showcased a model of inclusive empowerment and community engagement. Beneficiaries across eleven wards received motorcycles, solar streetlights, grinding machines, and cash support, reflecting the administration’s commitment to economic revitalization, social stability, and youth empowerment.
In Sabuwa, Governor Radda combined infrastructure and education, flagging off the ₦18.5 billion Sabuwa–Tashar Bawa–Rafin Iwa road project while laying the foundation for a new girls’ secondary school, demonstrating a vision in which mobility, education, and opportunity advance hand in hand.
The governor equally flagged off distribution of several items worth billions in Malumfashi, Kafur, Kankara, Faskari, Musawa, and and Kankia local government areas respectively.
Bindawa residents received solar water pumps, irrigation machinery, motorcycles, exercise books, and school uniforms, as the Governor discussed modern agricultural practices, mechanization, and market access. He emphasized that Katsina’s future depends on a productive, modernized, and sustainable agricultural sector.
Meanwhile, the Governor’s empowerment initiatives swept through Mashi, Daura, Mani, Danmusa, Safana, Kurfi, Jibia, and Kaita LGAs, transforming livelihoods in every corner of the state. In Mashi, residents received machinery, barbing kits, vehicles, and grains to sustain micro-enterprises. Daura saw 636 residents empowered with cash grants, motorcycles, and water pumps, while Danmusa distributed over a thousand bags of rice, sewing machines, motorcycles, POS machines with startup capital, and vehicles, reducing youth vulnerability to crime and stimulating local economies.
In Safana, 1,322 beneficiaries received machinery, vehicles, tricycles, and cash grants, marking it as one of the largest empowerment initiatives undertaken in the state. Kurfi residents, numbering over 3,400, benefitted from a wide array of empowerment tools, while in Jibia, youths, women, and vulnerable citizens received grinding machines, sewing machines, motorcycles, tricycles, barbing kits, and cash support.
Kaita residents eagerly anticipated the completion of the Kaita Earth Dam, a ₦1 billion project crucial for irrigation and water supply, with Governor Radda assuring fair compensation and prompt commencement.
The Governor’s commitment to education was evident across the tour. The Ingawa Fellowship Forum Scholarship Scheme awarded nearly ₦4.4 million to 204 undergraduates, with four exceptional first-class students receiving ₦100,000 each. Speaker Nasir Yahaya Daura’s Nasiriyya Educational Programme, which supported 662 students across 25 institutions, was also commended.
Governor Radda’s message was clear: investing in the youth is investing in the state’s future.
Healthcare also featured prominently. At Ingawa General Hospital, the Governor commissioned a ₦30 million X-ray machine to improve diagnostic services. In Funtua, he personally oversaw emergency care for accident victims, demonstrating a hands-on leadership style rooted in empathy and action. Plans to upgrade the Daura Medical Centre to a Federal Teaching Hospital and expand Jibia General Hospital reflect a vision of accessible, quality healthcare.
Infrastructure development remained a central theme throughout the tour. In Charanchi, the Governor flagged off a new feeder road, reconstructed 2.5 km of Doka road, and launched empowerment initiatives for residents.
His visit highlighted major achievements including the Charanchi General Hospital upgrade, the Special Smart School in Radda, the Charanchi modern stadium, water projects, and road networks, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to holistic community development.
In Batagarawa, traditional rulers received assurances of government support for palace rehabilitation and community governance, alongside ongoing rural road development, highlighting the Governor’s dedication to preserving heritage while expanding access and mobility. Rimi residents witnessed a blend of empowerment and religious investment, as Governor Radda distributed motorcycles, sewing and grinding machines, food supplies, and ₦30.8 million in financial support to small businesses, households, and vulnerable groups, while commissioning the renovated Eyka Central Mosque, further enhancing the town’s social and spiritual infrastructure.
The tour’s grand finale in Katsina LGA underscored the state’s capital as a center of innovation, service delivery, and development vision. Governor Radda commissioned upgraded council offices, a renovated ICT Centre, a new Primary Health Centre, and announced a forthcoming Health Imaging Centre Hospital worth over ₦34 billion.
Urban renewal initiatives, road expansions, and dual carriageways promise to boost tourism, commerce, and quality of life, signaling that the benefits of his statewide initiatives culminate in tangible transformation at the heart of Katsina.
Throughout the tour, Governor Radda emphasized economic empowerment, particularly for women, youth, and vulnerable citizens. Machinery for sewing, grinding, pepper-processing, and pasta-making supported small-scale businesses, while cash grants, vehicles, motorcycles, livestock, food items, and educational scholarships strengthened household resilience.
The Governor’s engagements with traditional leaders were central to his approach, promoting governance, peacebuilding, and community stability. Salaries for district and village heads were increased, allowances introduced for Imams and Mu’azzins, and continued support was promised for projects that strengthen traditional institutions.
Governor Radda’s political and development messaging was clear and consistent. He underscored transparency, local government autonomy, and equitable distribution of resources, including fertilizers across all 361 wards. By dismissing political rumors and emphasizing tangible achievements, the Governor reinforced public trust. Business leaders, such as Alhaji Dahiru Mangal, pledged continued support for his administration until 2031, reflecting confidence in his leadership and developmental vision.
Security remained a crucial focus throughout the tour. Communities previously affected by unrest were reassured of continued collaboration between government, vigilante groups, and residents. Governor Radda emphasized that peace, security, and stability are preconditions for prosperity, and his administration’s proactive approach has created safer, more productive communities across the state.
The most remarkable moment of the tour was the governor’s convoy successfully navigating the Batsari–Jibia road, which had been abandoned for 13 years due to insecurity, an encouraging sign of restored peace in the area. Along the way, the governor made a brief stop on the route to buy local fruits before continuing the journey.
In every town, village, and neighborhood, Governor Radda’s tour wove a narrative of empowerment, inclusion, and transformative development. From cash grants that revive household incomes, to scholarships that ignite young minds, to roads and water projects that connect communities, every intervention tells a story of hope, opportunity, and progress.
As his journey concluded in Katsina LGA, it became evident that Governor Radda’s vision for the state is holistic and enduring. The Governor’s approach combines empowerment, infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, security, and political cohesion, ensuring that every citizen benefits from the state’s progress. His message resonates with clarity: “We are building a Katsina where every community has a voice, every citizen has a chance, and every young person has hope. This is not merely governance; this is transformation in action.”
