Governor Abdullahi A. Sule of Nasarawa State has been honoured by The Independent Newspaper with the prestigious Governor of the Year award in the solid mineral development category.
The award, presented Saturday, recognises his outstanding efforts in diversifying Nasarawa State’s economy, particularly through developing its solid minerals sector.
Musa Ahmed Mohammed, the accountant general of Nasarawa State, congratulated the governor on the award and highlighted the governor’s visionary leadership, which was exemplified by the recent inauguration of the country’s largest lithium processing factory.
The former two-term speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly said the monumental project sets a new benchmark for industrial growth and sustainable development in Nasarawa State. It illustrates the governor’s commitment to utilising the state’s natural resources to benefit its people and the nation.
“Governor Sule’s focused investments in the mineral sector have had a transformative effect on the state’s economy. By spearheading initiatives that promote the extraction and processing of valuable minerals, the governor has significantly strengthened Nasarawa’s position as a key player in the global minerals market. This development has opened doors for new job opportunities and fostered industrial growth that will benefit the state for future generations,” the statement said.
The accountant general also commended the governor for his ongoing efforts to foster innovation and economic diversification.
“Under Governor Sule’s leadership, Nasarawa State has seen major strides in its development agenda, providing an economic blueprint that could be replicated across other regions. The strategic development of the mineral sector, particularly in solid minerals, has positioned the state for greater economic success and prosperity,” the AG added.
