Lagos State commissioner for agriculture, Ms Ruth Abisola Olusanya, has urged federal, state and local governments to change their approach to the agriculture sector.

She urged them to make the sector more attractive so that  the youths would develop interest in it.

Speaking as a guest speaker at a programme organised by United Action for Change (UAC), a group convened by Dr. Muiz Banire(SAN) on “Food Security in Nigeria: Challenges and Remedies”, she said the perception around agriculture and food production is not encouraging, adding that the sector has been relegated to the background, that is why many people are not attracted to the sector.

Olusanya said unless Nigerians change their perception about the  sector, it will be difficult to improve its performance.

“There is the need for mindset changing, people are not attracted to agriculture, no role model that is in the Agric sector that will attract people into the agriculture sector,” she said.
