Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, has promised improved welfare for workers of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, following a visit to the facility on Tuesday.

In a statement shared on his verified Facebook page Tuesday evening, the governor said he met with health workers to listen to their grievances and has committed to addressing key issues affecting the tertiary hospital.

“Today, we visited the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso to meet with health workers. After listening to their grievances, I committed to tackling the issues raised,” he wrote.

Makinde assured that a Governing Council would be constituted “by the end of this week” to provide institutional direction for the hospital. He further announced an upward review of the hospital’s monthly subvention, alongside a new ₦80,000 monthly stipend for 65 non-staff security personnel. He said the workers would also be integrated into the hospital’s system as ad-hoc staff.

On infrastructure, the governor promised to complete the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Annex in Oyo town before the end of his administration.
