Ebonyi State governor, Francis Nwifuru, has lifted the suspension of 81 officials for not attending an important public function.

In a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor, the governor said that the commissioners were to resume official duties immediately.

“Ebonyi State governor has graciously lifted the suspension of the 81 government officials. The suspended officials are to resume duties immediately”

“The governor directed the  commissioners, senior special assistants, special assistants and permanent secretaries who were  suspended on 28th July,  2025 to resume official duties immediately,” he said.

The suspension of the officials last week generated negative reactions as many personalities in the state faulted the action, insisting that the government activities would be halted.

Others maintained that the controversy surrounding the government function in which the functionaries failed to attend was shrouded in secrecy.

While the Chief Press to the Governor, Mr. Uzor insisted that the function was a Universal Basic Education School sports program held at the Pa Ngele Orunta while the Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media said the event was a burial celebration. Ends.
