Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has assured public servants in the state that his administration will no longer tolerate delays in the payment of lawful benefits and entitlements.

A statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Thursday revealed that the governor gave the assurance during the disbursement of severance gratuities, accommodation, and leave allowances to 1,371 former councillors who served across the state between 2021 and 2024.

The event, held at the Coronation Hall of the Government House in Kano, marked the release of the final tranche of the payments, amounting to ₦8.25 billion.

Governor Yusuf said the move was part of a deliberate reform aimed at ending the long-standing uncertainty faced by public officials after they complete their service to the state.

“Our goal is simple: never again should those who serve the public be left in uncertainty about what is rightfully theirs,” he said.

According to him, the administration is committed to deepening governance reforms that will prevent the accumulation of arrears and restore confidence in public institutions.

“Kano is the only state we can truly call ours. We have no other place to be prouder of than here,” Governor Yusuf added.

He called on residents to support efforts aimed at building a more just, stable, and prosperous state where the contributions of public servants are acknowledged and respected.
