An All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Nasarawa State, Prof. Mohammad Sani Haruna, has urged party faithful to shun violence during the forthcoming governorship primaries, stressing that his desire to govern the state is not worth the blood of anyone.

Haruna, a former Executive Vice Chairman of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), stated this yesterday in Akwanga Local Government Area, the headquarters of Nasarawa North Senatorial Zone, during a political rally organised to galvanise support for his quest to emerge as the party’s candidate in the primary elections.

“Remember, Thursday is the day for the primary election. As we always preach, you don’t need to quarrel, insult, or fight with anybody. Our interest in serving the state is not worth anybody shedding blood or fighting with anyone because it is only under peace and understanding that there can be security and love for one another,” he said.

The former NASENI boss, however, cautioned his supporters against engaging in violence that may lead to deaths or disrupt the primaries, noting that his ambition is not worth anyone’s blood.

He encouraged his supporters to come out in large numbers to cast their votes for him and stay to monitor the counting and collation of results.

“This is my message to you. Please come out in your numbers and cast your votes. You should witness the process, protect it, make sure the votes are counted, and escort the results to the collation centre.

“Do not harass any security personnel. Be there, but do not disrupt the process, beat anybody, insult anybody, or campaign at the election venue. Just cast your votes and observe the process,” he said.

Haruna promised equitable distribution of the state’s resources and the attraction of development to all sectors to consolidate the achievements of Governor Abdullahi Sule.

“You have promised to support me, and I also promise you that, by the grace of God, I will be just and fair in the equitable distribution of resources. No section of the state, tribe, or sentiment will make us deny anyone his or her entitlement as a citizen of the state.

“If you believe Governor Sule has worked selflessly to open up Nasarawa State through modern infrastructural development, then there is every need to elect another engineer in the person of Engr. Mohammed Sani Haruna to continue the developmental strides of the governor,” he said.
