Gracie Abrams has announced the upcoming release of her new single, ‘Hit the Wall’, set to drop on May 14.
The singer-songwriter revealed the news in a social media post at the start of the weekend, confirming that the track will be available at 2 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. Sharing the announcement on Instagram, Abrams expressed deep excitement about the release, writing that she “love[s] it with everything” she has.
The announcement was accompanied by a striking single artwork featuring Abrams standing in front of blazing flames. The dramatic visual renders her mostly as a shadowy silhouette, adding to the anticipation surrounding the track.
The post also included the acronym “DFH,” which fans believe may hint at Abrams’ next album. If confirmed, it would mark her third full-length studio project, following her debut album, ‘Good Riddance’, and her sophomore release, ‘The Secret of Us’. The latter earned Abrams her first top 10 entry on the Billboard 200 chart, debuting at No. 2.
Speculation about new music has been building over the past few weeks. Last month, Abrams shared a brief teaser clip that cut off just before her vocals began, suggesting that a new project was in the works. She has also posted studio photos with producer Aaron Dessner, alongside images of a journal decorated with “DFH,” a “3” sticker, and a witch illustration.
In a previous interview with Billboard, Abrams spoke about her ongoing creative process with Dessner, noting that their collaboration had been developing steadily despite busy schedules. She described their work as something they were “starting to crack,” adding that it left both of them feeling energised.
