Katsina state Commissioner, Ministry internal security and home affairs, Dr Nasiru Mua’zu, has identified greed, deep-seated social injustice, and political manipulation as the major forces fuelling insecurity across the North-West.

He however warned that peace cannot be achieved without confronting these root causes.
The Commissioner made the disclosure during launch of the Conflict Prevention and Crisis Response and Resilience (CPCRR) project in the state.

He lamented that years of unchecked greed, inequality, and selfish political interests have led to the loss of lives, destruction of livelihoods, and the collapse of key social institutions, creating what he described as “a completely different crisis.”

“Unless we address these underlying parameters greed, envy, and the deliberate manipulation of our people by some politicians no amount of force can bring lasting peace,” Mua’zu said.

The commissioner commended Governor Dikko Umaru Radda for providing focused and passionate leadership, noting that the administration has intensified collaboration with development partners such as the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mercy Corp and Centre for Democracy ( CDD) to tackle insecurity at the grassroots.

Calling for collective responsibility and urged residents, traditional leaders, and political actors to own the process of peace and abandon divisive practices.
He emphasized that only by confronting greed, correcting injustices, and rejecting political manipulation can Katsina State and the wider North-West escape the cycle of violence.
