Group Decries Campaign Of Calumny Against Sen Shehu Buba

The Bauchi Progressive Vanguards (BPV) has warned individuals and opposition groups in and outside the state to desist from media campaign of falsehood and calumny against Senator Shehu Buba.

BPV coordinator Abubakar Sadiq Yelw, in a statement issued to reporters in Jos, the Plateau State capital, noted that the spurious accusations levelled against Shehu Buba, the incumbent senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District in Bauchi State, are purely a political falsehood to tarnish his image and political strength in the State.

The group added that,” More so, the accusations of his alleged involvement in State and itry are coming after he declared his intention to vie for the gubernatorial seat of Bauchi State come 2027 and with the strength of his grassroots support and acceptance by millions of voters in the State. His opponents find this unfounded allegation to be an attempt to undermine his momentum and destroy his political ambition, given the crowd he drew during the declaration.

“Let me assure you that Senator Buba has built a flourishing political career so formidable that no amount of campaign calumny can tarnish his hard-earned image in Bauchi state and Nigeria at large.

“Already, his political associates and well-meaning individuals from Bauchi State have come out to set the record straight and debunk the allegation.”

“On his part, “the distinguished senator has resolved to report this to the relevant authorities for investigation, including legal actions against those peddling these allegations. He urged his supporters to remain calm and steadfast in their will, as the truth shall prevail over lies.”

LEADERSHIP recalled that a report was made in the media of an alleged peace deal between Senator Buba and the wanted terror kingpin, Bello Turji, with allegations of fuelling religious tensions in Plateau State, and past claims of sponsoring wanted bandits to the Hajj pilgrimage.

The media report came shortly after the senator announced his intention to contest the Bauchi State governorship in 2027 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
