A major women-focused empowerment initiative has been launched in Katsina State, bringing together over 400 women and persons with special needs in a renewed push to advance economic inclusion and social development.

The programme, organised by Jobberman in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, was held under the theme, “From Potential to Power: Advancing Women Into Opportunities.”

Stakeholders at the event called for deliberate efforts to transform women’s potential into tangible economic and social impact.

At the event, Jobberman’s senior strategy consultant, Oladoyi Kolawole, described the initiative as the first of its kind in Katsina State, aimed at unlocking opportunities and amplifying women’s voices across various sectors.

She explained that the programme provided a comprehensive platform for women to learn, connect, and thrive.

The event featured a wide range of activities, including panel discussions, financial literacy training, health and wellness sessions, and career and business advisory services.

Participants also received basic medical screenings and showcased their products at a trade fair highlighting women-led enterprises.

To ensure inclusivity, organisers provided support services such as childcare and laundry, particularly for women with caregiving responsibilities.

Kolawole noted that special attention was given to vulnerable groups, including women entrepreneurs, professionals, persons with disabilities and internally displaced persons, who often face structural barriers to economic participation.

She stressed the need to dismantle these barriers and create equal opportunities for all.

In her keynote address, the wife of the Katsina State governor, Zulaiyath Dikko Radda, called for stronger commitment to women’s empowerment through education, financial independence, and improved healthcare.

Represented by her technical assistant, Esther Angulu, she highlighted the untapped potential among women and girls, particularly in rural communities.
