Leaders of Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs) have appealed to the Bauchi State government to include them in the ongoing employment process.
The appeal was made by the group’s leader, Haruna Pali, during a courtesy visit to the chairman of Bogoro local government area, Dr. Lawi Sumi at his office yesterday.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Pali emphasised that granting employment opportunities to qualified PWDs in the state civil service would help address many of the social and economic challenges faced by their members.
He assured the chairman that PWDs, if given the opportunity, would contribute meaningfully to the development of Bogoro local government area, Bauchi State, and the nation at large.
The delegation expressed appreciation to the council chairman for his concern and support for persons living with disabilities.
They also commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his inclusive leadership and continued support for vulnerable groups across the state.
In his response, the chairman of Bogoro local government area, Yakubu Lawi Sumi, pledged to support the activities of the PWDs and assured them that their request would be given due consideration in line with the vision of Governor Mohammed’s administration, which prioritised equity, inclusion, and social justice.
