The Working People United (WoPU) has expressed confidence in the leadership and transformative policies of President Bola Tinubu, reaffirming its commitment to supporting the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
This position was made known by the group during a courtesy engagement with the chief of staff to the president, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where the national coordinator, Comrade (Prince) Williams Eniredonana Akporeha, led the delegation and reiterated the group’s unwavering support for the current administration.
A statement by the coordinator, made available to journalists in Lagos, described the body as a national grassroots movement committed to promoting unity, productivity, and the welfare of the working of across all sectors of the economy of Nigeria, including the public and private sectors, artisans, professionals, entrepreneurs, farmers, transporters and youths.
According to him, the movement’s core objective is to amplify the voices of ordinary Nigerians, encourage active civic participation, and advocate policies that promote fairness, economic opportunity and sustainable national development.
The group noted that it strongly believes Nigeria is on the right path under President Tinubu’s leadership, citing ongoing reforms across key sectors of the economy as clear indicators of a commitment to economic stability and long-term growth.
WoPU further emphasised its role as a bridge between the people and government, pledging to continue advocating for policies that improve the welfare, dignity, and economic opportunities of working Nigerians, while also promoting civic responsibility and productive engagement among citizens, particularly the youth.
Akporeha stressed that inclusive governance, where the voices of everyday Nigerians are heard, remains critical to strengthening democracy, building trust in public institutions, and accelerating national development.
In his response, the chief of staff to the president, Rt. Hon. Gbajabiamila commended the leadership of Working People United for its constructive engagement and expressed appreciation for the group’s recognition of the reform programmes of President Tinubu.
He noted that, ordinarily, organisations such as WoPU, like many unions, would be at the forefront of confrontation with government authorities.
