The Conference of Civil Society for Transparency and Accountability (COCTA) has called for the inclusion of oil and gas professional Akanimo Udofia in efforts aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s ongoing energy sector reforms.

In a statement issued yesterday in Abuja, the group’s national xoordinator, Olumuyiwa Onlede, said Udofia’s experience across upstream and downstream operations, as well as energy economics and sectoral development, makes him well-positioned to contribute technical expertise to the industry.

Nigeria’s oil and gas sector remains a major source of government revenue and foreign exchange, even as authorities pursue reforms to improve transparency, efficiency, and investment under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to him, effective implementation of policies such as the Petroleum Industry Act requires seasoned professionals who can bridge the gap between policy formulation and execution.

Onlede added that leveraging the expertise of competent Nigerians like Udofia would help strengthen institutional capacity and enhance performance within the country’s energy sector.
