Determined to promote community development initiatives, Delta women under the aegis of Unique Ladies for Sheriff, (ULS), have urged women in the state to key into government programmes and participate actively in voter enlightenment.
The appeal was made in Asaba, by women representatives from the 25 local government areas of Delta State, while declaring their total support for the reelection of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
Speaking at the event, the national coordinator of ULS, Dame Nkem Okwuofu, in her keynote address themed “Touching the Grassroots,” said the gathering marked a defining moment for Delta women to reaffirm their support for Governor Oborevwori’s leadership and the MORE Agenda.
Okwuofu appreciated Governor Oborevwori and his wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, for their commitment to inclusive governance and grassroots development, .
“There is no vacancy in Government House, Asaba, and Aso Rock. The women, with large followership at the grassroots, believe empowered women is to empower communities.
“We are reaching out to young girls, farmers, artisans and businesswomen, the true heartbeat of Delta State. We must continue to communicate the governor’s development strides and strengthen our grassroots structures.”
In her remarks, the wife of the governor, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, represented by the wife of the chief of staff, Mrs. Ewoma Erijo, commended the unity among the women and assured them of continued support from the First Lady’s Office.
The senior policy adviser to the Governor, Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, in his goodwill message, commended the women for their strong presence and active political engagement.
In his goodwill message, Delta State commissioner for Finance, Chief Fidelis Tilije, reaffirmed the women’s position, citing the governor’s achievements in prudent management and economic stability.
Representing the speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, deputy speaker, Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, congratulated the women for their strong mobilisation, emphasizing that women’s participation would be decisive in ensuring electoral success in 2027.
A motion of confidence was moved by Princess Pat, reaffirming the group’s support for both President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori.
The motion was seconded by Irene Imilar, who echoed the group’s confidence in the leadership of both men to continue steering the nation and state toward progress.
