The Khana Patriotic Stakeholders and Professional Forum (KPSPF) has called on Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara to revoke the contract for the reconstruction of internal roads in Bori, the headquarters of Rivers South-East senatorial district of the state.

Fubara had during a recent unscheduled visit to the town, accused the contractor handling the road project of abandoning it after receiving more than 80 percent of the contract sum.

The governor thereafter ordered the contractor to return to site or be prepared to face embarrassment.

Speaking to newsmen in Bori after an inspection visit to the abandoned project sites, KPSPF leader, Chief Gani Topba, said the people of Khana local government area would mobilise for a protest to Government House, Port Harcourt if the governor refuses to revoke the contract.

Topba said: “It is on record that the present governor released money for the project and by assessment of what we are seeing today; if you check what they have done, it is not up to N500 million.

“We are worried but I don’t think that the contractor should return to site because the governor has asked for that for more than one week, but the contactor has not returned to site. He only dropped one equipment and nobody has seen him around again.

“So, we are appealing that the governor should revoke the contract Immediately and reaward the contract to a competent company. Then, government should now know how to go about it to recover their money. We won’t wait; if the governor does not cancel the contract, we as Khana people, will stage a protest to Government House, Port Harcourt.”
