Armed bandits have abducted four farmers in Babanla community, Ifelodun local government area of Kwara State.
The farmers were said to have been kidnapped in their farm around 5am on Wednesday.
A source hinted that the bandits invaded the farmland unannounced, firing sporadically into the air before rounding up the victims.
The source added that the assailants initially seized five persons, only to later release an elderly man, adding that, “they then took away four other members of the family to an unknown destination.”
The identities of the abductees had yet to be officially confirmed as of the time of filing this report.
The chairman of Ifelodun local government area, Hon. Femi Yusuf, confirmed the abduction of the farmers said to be members of the same family.
Yusuf said: “Yes I am aware. But, I don’t have the details now.”
The security agencies in the state were yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident as at the time of filing this report.
